Abstract: At Virginia Tech, we are interested in promoting life-long leaming and helping students become more involved in their educational process (Siudzinski, Hatfield, & Reeves, 2002). One means we’re testing is the idea of electronic portfolios (ePortfolios). We believe that ePortfolios, used wisely, give students new avenues for integrating leaming from their courses and extracurricular activities; they help students see ways that courses such as the ones we teach fit into the larger picture. With the embedded features of the software we’re testing, students gain practice in presentation skills by creating a, variety of views on their work, tailored for different audiences. In these views, they have the opportunity to reflect on the learning they’ve experienced, and the products they’ve created.
